A Divorce Ring is a ring that some women and men chose to wear after a divorce to promote their newly single status. The ring consists of a gold band with a break in the center and three white gold bands on one side. The three bands symbolize: The year that their ex was met. One for the year married. The third band for the year divorced.
The idea of the ring is not to promote divorce, but to help build back up a person's self esteem and help them cope with the pain of a divorce.
The rings were designed by Harold Thompson and Mary Burden in 2001.
