Dith Pran was a Cambodian journalist who survived the Cambodian Genocide, which lasted from 1974 to 1979. After leaving Cambodia, Pran became a well-known photographer for The New York Times. Pran's story became the subject of the 1984 film The Killing Fields. Pran died on March 30, 2008.
Schanberg Partnership
In 1975, Pran met The New York Times reporter, Sydney Schanberg. When the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, fell to the militant Communist group, the Khmer Rouge, Pran stayed behind in the city with Schanberg.
