Dith Pran was a survivor of the Cambodian Genocide who became a New York Times photojournalist after escaping to the United States in 1980. He dedicated the remainder of his life to telling the story of the Khmer Rouge's genocide in his home country. Pran died of pancreatic cancer on the morning of March 30, 2008.
