California Screamin’ is a steel roller coaster, located in Disney’s California Adventure Park, in Anaheim, California. Premiering in early 2001, California Screamin’ is the only looping Disney rollercoaster that is not housed indoors. http://www.themeparkinsider.com/reviews/disney%27s_california_adventure/california_screamin%27/ Although made of steel, the rollercoaster is made to resemble that of a wooden boardwalk coaster, and has a California surfing theme.http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneys-california-adventure/california-screamin/
California Screamin’ is the longest and fastest roller coaster at the Disneyland Resort and the sixth longest rollercoaster in the world, covering a distance of nearly 1 1/8 miles. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneys-california-adventure/california-screamin/ Riders are launched at high speeds, and reach heights of up to 120 feet, before plunging and entering into the loop.
California Screamin’ Rider Experience
Riders board a train at the loading station, entering onto a switch track that curves to the left. A light spray of water is released, mocking a waterfront, as the train comes to a stop. A voice welcomes riders saying: “Get ready screamers! Head back, face forward, and hang on.” Before counting down from five. Once the countdown reaches one, the coaster is launched uphill, using linear induction motors. http://www.coaster-net.com/ridegallery.php?action=display&id=246 Riders ascend the first incline at fast speeds, before being plunged downward, traveling at 55 miles per hour. After a right curve, the train enters a break zone, before being carried up a second incline with linear induction motors. http://www.coaster-net.com/ridegallery.php?action=display&id=246 The second incline is the ride’s highest point, at 120 feet. After a brief pause, the coaster drops steeply toward the left, makes a slight right turn, and then a U-turn, before a slight drop into the loop. After a few turns, the ride enters a series of smaller hills, dropping slightly past a camera, and entering into a helix. Then, it makes a slight drop and curve to the left, before entering the final break, entering back into the station.
