This advertisement for Disney's "Prince of Persia" was shown during Super Bowl XLIV. The trailer shows a series of action shots for the movie, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal.
Walt Disney Pictures purchased two ad spots for the 2010 Super Bowl. The ads, which ran during the second and third quarters of Super Bowl XLIV (respectively) spotlighted the new Alice in Wonderland movie starring Johnny Depp, and The Prince of Persia movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
The advertisement for Alice in Wonderland focused primarily on the Mad Hatter (played by Depp), the Cheshire Cat, and Helena Bonham Carter's character, the Queen of Hearts, who rests her feet on a CGI pig and snaps at the Mad Hatter (played by Depp).
The advertisement for Prince of Persia was a trailer that showed a series of action shots with armor-clad Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role, battling a series of dangers including large snakes, sandstorms, and magic. The movie is due to be released in theaters on May 28, 2010.
Disney is not the only film studio to purchase ad space during the 2010 Super Bowl. Universal Pictures and Paramount Stuidos also purchased commercial time. Universal advertised both Robin Hood and The Wolfman movies. Paramount advertised Shutter Island and The Last Airbender.
