  • Dirty Pretty Things is a British rock band, formed in 2005 after the breakup of The Libertines a year earlier. The band features former Libertines Carl Barat (vocals and guitar) and Gary Powell (drums), as well as Didz Hammond (former bassist for Cooper Temple Clause and Anthony Rossomando (guitar). Led by Barat, who fronted the Libertines opposite the erratic Pete Doherty, the band's sound recalls the Libertines, but with slightly more of a classic-punk influence, and without Doherty's penchant for poetry and ramshackle guitar work. Waterloo to Anywhere, the band's debut album, was released in 2006, reached number three on the UK album charts and was reviewed favorably by most critics (Metacritic gave it a score of 72 out of 100). A new album, reported to be titled Romance At Short Notice is due in 2008.
