DiRT is the sixth and final racing game in the Colin McRae Rally series. The game is originally known as Colin McRae: DiRT but was shortened to DiRT for the North American release. It features mostly off-road racing and World Rally Championship events. The game was named after the late Colin McRae, who died in September 2007, a short time after the release. DiRT received mostly above-average reviews from video game critics. GameTarget put DiRT on its list of "52 Games We'll Still be Playing From 2007."
Gameplay
There are three modes in the game:
- Career Mode: There are 11 stages on a pyramid a player must pass. The first stage has 11 events, the second has 10, and so on until the final "Champion of Champions" event. Players earn as many as 10 points for winning a race, and a player must have a certain amount of points in order to advance to the next stage. Throughout Career Mode, players have the option of upgrading to a new car or purchasing skins for their current cars.
- Championship Mode: A player races through several stages, with the times for each stage added throughout.
- Multiplayer: Players can battle more than 100 other players in rally races in a one-on-one race.
