Dinosaur Train is an animated children's television show that airs on PBS networks across the United States. The show's main focus is to teach children about the world of dinosaurs and science, and follows the adventures of four young dinosaurs as they learn about the world around them. Along with their parents, they are able to travel on the "Dinosaur Train", which allows them to move across the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to meet different species of dinosaurs, birds, and other life and observe how the climate and landscape changed from period to period. The show also features a number of original songs, performed by the dinosaurs, to assist in learning. One such song is "Dinosaurs A to Z"
The show premiered on September 7, 2009 on PBS Kids, and is produced by The Jim Henson Company. The PBS Kids website has a number of online educational games that run in conjunction with the show and are fully interactive.
Dinosaur Train Characters
The show revolves around the antics of Buddy the Tyrannosaurus Rex, a young dinosaur who is being raised by the Pteranodon family. He was hatched from Mrs. Pterandon's nest at about the same time as his three siblings, Shiny, Tiny, and Don Pteranodon.
The siblings often celebrate their favorite activity, riding the Dinosaur Train, where together they have met characters such as Mr. Conductor (a Troodon), Laura Giganotosaurus, Morris Stegosaurus, and Tank Triceratops.
