  • Career

    Dinah Washington began singing as a little girl. As she grew older she entered the Chicago music scene and commanded performances at the most prestigious night clubs. In 1942 she toured the country as a singer with Lionel Hampton.

    After a short tour, she began to record her own albums and ultimately recorded a grand total of 34 before her death by accidental overdose at the age of 39 on December 14, 1963.
