Dikembe Mutombo is a professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association.

Mutombo injured his knee during an April 21, 2009, game against the Portland Trail Blazers and was not expected to play for the rest of the 2009 NBA Playoffs. Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 25, 1966. He attended high school at the Institute Bobotom then continued his education at Georgetown University. Mutombo has played for several franchises throughout his career including the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets. He has won the NBA defensive Player of the Year four times in his career in the 1994-1995, 1996-1997, 1997-1998 and the 2000-2001 campaigns.
