Dick Van Patten

Dick Van Patten is an American actor. He was born on December 9, 1928 in New York City, New York. His younger sister, Joyce Van Patten, is in the acting business as well. He also has a neice, Talia Balsam, who is an actress. Patten married Patricia Poole in 1954. They have three sons together, Vincent Van Patten, Nels Van Patten and James Van Patten. All of his sons are actors.

Van Patten began his acting career in theater in 1937 in the production of The Eternal Road. As a teenager, he played in 12 other Broadway productions. In 1949, he played on the television series I Remember Mama. In 1977, he landed the role as Tom Bradford on Eight is Enough. Since then, he has played in the films High Anxiety, Spaceballs, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He later played on The Weird Al Show.
