Dick Oliver is a former New York Daily News assistant managing editor, who also worked as a reporter on local station Fox 5, for Good Day New York. In July 2001, Oliver got in an on-air row with his anchor Jim Ryan, his former employee at New York Daily News. The row was at the conclusion of an interview of Oliver, regarding a broken elevator. Oliver interviewed the landlord and tenant, and closed the interview. According to Ryan, Oliver cut the interview short, and requested additional questions. Within seconds, the scene changes from a regular news item to name calling between Oliver and Ryan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOc4XgBespw
Ryan tells Oliver he will "teach him how to do an interview", while Oliver responds with stating "I was your boss once". Ryan again responds: "You were, and aren't no longer. How did that happen?"
The dispute was later put to ease off-camera, but Jim Ryan was forced into retirement later that year. http://gawker.com/364372/if-i-have-to-teach-you-how-to-be-a-reporter-ollie-ill-do-that-later
