• Diablo is a 1997 action/role-playing game developed by Blizzard North, and is the first game of the Diablo video games series. The game defined a sub-genre of action games, “hack n' slash,” and popularized the dungeon-based style of action-RPG gameplay that later games would come to imitate.
  • Story

    Diablo takes place in a dark fantasy setting. In this game you take part in the war between Heaven and Hell. Deep beneath Tristram rests Diablo, the Lord of Terror. Imprisoned long ago by the Horadrim, an ancient order of magi, Diablo seeks to be free from his prison, a soulstone. Driven mad by the kidnapping of his son, King Loric has brutally executed many townspeople, he suspected of kidnapping his son. King Leoric has been kill by his most loyal soldiers, to protect the innocent. The game begins shortly after, archbishop Lazarus betrays the townspeople of Tristram by leading them into a trap within the labyrinth. Your quest is to find King Loric's missing son and to kill both archbishop Lazarus and Diablo.
  • Gameplay

    When the game begins you can create a warrior, rogue or a sorcerer. Each character class has a different playing style, but the game plays relatively similar for each: the game is played in an isometric view, and you point-and-click your character around the map, killing monsters, collecting items, magic and weapons. There are 16 levels in total in the game.
