What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not react to it properly. There are three types of diabetes, Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes. Type 1, also known as Juvenile Diabetes, appears before the age of 30 and is due to an autoimmune disorder which effects the amount of insulin the body produces. Type 2, also known as adult-onset diabetes, is when the body slows down insulin production and is usually caused by people who are obese or live sedentary lifestyles. The third, Gestational Diabetes, is when a woman gets insulin resistant during pregnancy.
