The Director's Guild of America annually selects a body of outstanding directors in January for films of the previous year. The selected directors are from a variety of genres and are all members of the guild. Winner selection is made by each vote from the 14,000 members.

Director's Guild of America
The Director's Guild of America (DGA) was founded in 1936, orginally under the name of Screen Directors Guild. It currently is composed of 14,000 members. In regards to future awards predictions, the DGA has been known as a fairly accurate predictor of Oscar success.
