Dexter is an award winning Showtime original TV series based on a book written by Jeff Lindsay entitled Darkly Dreaming Dexter. The show stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a sociopathic serial killer who systematically murders other killers who have escaped the criminal justice system.
John Lithgow will join the cast as the serial killer Walter Simmons for season 4. Show Summary
Living by the code his foster father taught him while growing up, Dexter channels his urges to kill only towards those who deserve to be killed, and has spent his life becoming proficient in the art of blending in with the crowd. By day, he works as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department with his sister, Deborah (played by Jennifer Carpenter, who is trying to prove herself as a detective). Though he masterfully tricks most of the people around him into thinking he is normal, Dexter has to be increasingly careful about revealing his true self.Critical Praise
Hall's performance as the tricky character of Dexter, a likable murderer, is often lauded by fans and critics. He earned 2 Golden Globe nominations for the role.
