Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry is a 2001 "hack-and-slash" action game developed by Capcom for the PS2. It is the first installment in the popular Devil May Cry series.

Dante is a powerful half-demon/half-human warrior, who hunts creatures of hell, seeking revenge for the death of his family. A mysterious girl named Trish comes to Dante and tells him to stop the Devil from reappearing. On the way, Dante learns the dark secret about his own origin and must face the Devil Prince from taking over the world.

Devil May Cry features 10-15 hours of gameplay. Dante uses a combination of sword and guns. This allows players to create various combos with the different weapons. Players can utilize all weapons on the ground as well as in the air. All the weapons have unlimited ammunition. Some of the guns he uses are handguns, shotgun, and grenade launcher.IGN: Devil May Cry Review All of the weapons can also be upgraded through shops. Weapons can be upgraded in normal mode or Devil State. Defensive items can also be purchased at shops that give Dante extra lives, longer health gauge, or extended Devil State.IGN: Devil May Cry Review Every time a player defeats an enemy, Dante's Devil Gauge increases. Players can activate the Devil State and in this state, Dante is stronger and faster than when he is in human form. Dante can only stay in this form until the gauge is depleted. Besides fighting, levels also include key finding and swimming and fighting underwater.IGN: Devil May Cry Review After completing each level, players are rewarded a score based on their performance. The score ranges from D (poor) to S (excellent). The score is based on completion time, orbs collected, and combat style.
