Once again, you're sealed in the room. The Pride of Lion that's on the pedestal will unseal the first door for you - it's a crest to acknowledge you've proven your courage, so you can't obtain it until you complete the Path of Trials.
Head into the Path of Trials, and at the other end of the bridge is an epitaph that'll give you some feedback on how to obtain the Pride of Lion. Read it, then backtrack - halfway across, you'll get hit by a lightning bolt, which severs the bridge and plunges you down into the murky waters below.

Prove Your Courage
You'll arrive at some underwater ruins - stand in the center of the glowing circle on the floor. The door will shut and seal you in with a new enemy, the Sargassos, which will materialize all around you. Defeat them using one-on-one tactics to make the fight easier, and avoid getting surrounded.
When you defeat them all, step back into the glowing circle, which teleports you back to the surface - once there, the bridge will reshape itself, and you can obtain a blue orb fragment that's in front of the epitaph you read earlier; jump across the bridge pieces, using your shadow as a guide to where you'll land, to reach it.
You'll be transported back to the other end of the bridge - jump onto the ledge above you, and you'll release another of those cascades of red orbs. Collect them, and if you've gotten the Air Raid ability, you can reach the floating bridge piece that's across from the ledge to obtain another blue orb fragment.
BOSS FIGHT: Phantom
Head back to claim the Pride of Lion from the pedestal - once you grab it, Phantom will burst through the glass above you to attack.
Phantom attacks by causing molten pillars to rise from the ground, throwing fireballs, attacking you with its pincers and tail, and trying to crush you. You can't do much against him with your sword, so get used to its timing for the attacks.
Hide behind the columns and let them take the damage from Phantom's fireballs, keeping your eyes on his back - he'll open up from time to time, and you'll need to jump on his back and slash away to cause damage.
TIP: Use the Devil Trigger to inflict massive damage in less time - you can also use Stinger to throw Phantom out of the charging animation for its fireball, giving you more time to slash at its back.
When Phantom is defeated, it'll crawl back into it's hole. Head through the double doors to complete the mission.
You'll start the mission in front of the statue that you used in mission 2. Move down the hallway, and Phantom will reappear to charge after you - you can either run away, or stand and fight him. You only get 500 red orbs for defeating him, so running is the best option.
As you run, Phantom will throw fireballs at you - roll to avoid them, then continue running. You'll come across the doors that lead into the courtyard - use them to escape from Phantom. You can re-enter the hallway immediately to find that Phantom is gone, but there's not much point in doing so.
Fight the Lion Gatekeeper
When you enter the courtyard, use the Pride of Lion to break the seal and hit the lion statue three times - this will snap it out of place to reveal a new enemy type - the Shadow.
When the Shadow jumps at you, roll to avoid it's attacks and whack it when the core is exposed to deal damage. Be aware that they do heavy damage, so avoid the attacks as best you can.
When the Shadow falls, the seal on the door will be broken, so enter it now.
Obtain the Melancholy Soul
Before you head up the stairs, take out the Bloody Mari enemy, and then jump into the hole to find a blue door with a lion head carved into it, and a dial.
Hit the dial until it's filled up, then get on the glowing pad to ascend - take the Death Sentence from the platform and jump across to the stairs. Defeat the Marionettes that appear, and enter the door to the bedroom.
This is a Castellan bedroom, full of oddities. There's a Statue of Time in the back if you need supplies, and I'd suggest a Holy Water and a Vital Star if you can afford them.
Jump atop the bed to find a cache of red orbs, then examine the statue by the mirror and use the Death Sentence to obtain the Melancholy Soul.
BOSS FIGHT: Nelo Angelo
CUTSCENE: A mysterious figure emerges from the mirror, and holds a conversation with Dante before goading him outside to battle.
Before you leave the room, be sure to get that Holy Water and Vital Star. When you're ready, head to the doors and access the patio area.
When you reach the balcony, jump down to initiate battle with Nelo Angelo - immediately use the Holy Water to take away half of his HP.
Nelo will teleport to a high ledge and taunt you - jump up to his level and be prepared to avoid his attack, and wait for him to tire himself out - after a series of unsuccessful attacks, Nelo will pause to take a breather. During this time, wail on him with your Devil Arms in DT mode to inflict massive damage.
When your DT gauge is empty, use the Vital Star to replenish it and repeat the above tactic - Nelo will fall in no time.
CUTSCENE: Nelo engages Dante in hand-to-hand combat, and gains the upper hand until he sees the amulet hanging from Dante's neck; Nelo Angelo then goes berserk and teleports away from the scene.
At the start of the mission, your menu will open to show you that the Melancholy Soul has activated, giving you three minutes to get it back to the lion's head door before it's wasted. Unfortunately, there's another constraint - you have to deal with a Shadow before you can exit the area.
You can spare around 60 seconds to deal with the Shadow, but unless you're just unlucky, it can be done faster - exterminate it, then head through the door. Remember to avoid it's attacks with rolls.

Run to the Lion's Den
Once you enter the bedroom, head to the pit and leap in, then run to the door with the lion's head carved into it. If you make it within three minutes, you'll complete the mission and earn an S rank.
If, however, you failed to get to the door in time, you'll need to head back to the room that led up to the Staff of Judgment from mission 2 and examine the gold statue to recharge the Melancholy Soul. If you do this, you'll negate your chance to earn an S rank - the choice is yours.
The door from the last mission will lead you to the waterways underneath the castle - enter, and keep your eyes open, because it's very dark down here. You can use your handguns to illuminate the way for short periods of time, though it isn't strictly necessary.
Head forward to the wall, then move towards the left hand alcove to cause a blue orb fragment to drop down. Move back down the waterway and past the entrance.
Head through the left archway to find some red orbs and a green orb, and an orb fountain for you to stock up with. Remember to hit it until it shatters to collect as many orbs as possible. When you're finished, head back to the water way and through the archway on the opposite wall to find a room full of pipes.
There's a pipe glowing dull red towards the back - examine it to retrieve the Rusty Key - once you do, Beelzebubs will swarm in, and you'll need to take them all out in order to leave the room. Don't worry; they're weak and fall in one swing of your sword.

Defeat the Death Scissor
Move to the end of the waterway, and use the Rusty Key to open the locked door. Head through the archway to find green orbs, and then continue up the path to find four blue orb fragments - it's a trick, however, and the fragments will form barriers to trap you into a fight against the Death Scissor.
You can defeat the Death Scissor in about 60 seconds if you follow this trick - slash him during his lunges to throw off his attacks, and when he falls, activate your Devil Trigger and slash him until his mask turns red.
When he gets up and performs his air attack, jump away until he charges you. Jump above him and fire with your handguns, then repeat the process. He'll fall shortly after his second air attack.
When you've defeated the Death Scissor, the spell protecting the Guiding Light is broken - go and claim it to complete the mission.
