Devil May Cry 2 is an action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom. It was released for the Playstation 2 and is the second part of the Devil May Cry series.
Story
Dante must work together with a new character, Lucia, to stop a millionaire named Arius from summoning a demon. With the demon, Arius would become all powerful. The two-disc set allows players to choose either Dante or Lucia as the main character.
Gameplay
Much of the gameplay mechanics remain the same from the first Devil May Cry. Players still collect red orbs in order to gain new powers and abilities for their characters. The scoring system remains the same, although there are new moves players can perform. Dante can perform:
- Wall jumps
- Backflips
- Double-jumps
- higher jumps or stay suspended by using his guns and/or enemies
- Sommersaults
- Aim in two directions
Both characters can trigger the Devil State. Devil State increases speed, strength, and allows both characters to use special attacks. Only Dante can trigger the Desperation Devil Trigger when he has low health. The Desperation Devil Trigger is an enhanced version of the Devil State. The weapon list has also increased. Some of the additions include dual machine guns and missile launcher. Lucia handles two short swords and uses throwing daggers as her projectile weapon. Players can switch easily between the various guns and swords by using the weapon-change button. The weapons upgrade has been updated to include Dante's guns and the newly added Amulet.IGN: Devil May Cry 2 ReviewThe amulet allows increased abilities for Dante in his Demon form as well as his regular form. Also new to the series is the evasion button that allows Dante and Lucia to dodge enemy attacks. Devil May Cry 2 retains much of the puzzle-solving aspects from Devil May Cry.
