    • Contains booby traps
  • On February 20, 2008, it was announced that a trove of Nazi treasure, including 2 tons of gold and the fabled Amber Room might be hidden in a cavern near Deutschneudorf. Excavation is proceeding slowly, due to concerns about World War II booby traps.

Deutschneudorf is located in Saxony, Germany, in the district of Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis.

The Amber Room, or Amber Chamber, was an intricately crafted room covered in gold leaf and mirrors decorating amber panels that took nine years to build. During World War II it was broken down and taken from Russia by the Nazis. The exact whereabouts of the remains of the Amber Room, if they even exist, are unknown.
