Deus Ex

Deus Ex is a 2000 action/role-playing game developed by Ion Storm for the PC, Mac and PS2. The game is the first installment in the Deus Ex series, featuring JC Denton, the anti-terrorist agent equipped with powerful nano-tech implants.

Set in the year 2050 A.D., a menacing plague known as the Gray Death threatens both the American population and the world at large. There is a cure, “Ambrosia,” but because of its scarcity panic and riots ensue. A terrorist organization called The National Secessionist Force claims it will help all of those unfortunate citizens unable to acquire the cure, but the United Nations has other plans. The United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO), pledges to crush rising terrorist threats around the world. JC Denton, a UNATCO agent with nano-tech implants, is ordered to capture the leader of the National Secessionist Force, Leo Gold.

Designed much like a first-person shooter, the game is played from a first-person perspective and you use various guns over the course of the game: pistols, rifles, explosives, experimental weaponry and others. The game is progressed through a series of “missions” which you receive from your employer UNATCO. Additionally, throughout the game you will accrue skill-points, which can be spent to augment J.C.'s abilities. Examples include faster the rate of reload, computer hacking and improved firing range.
