Creation of a Housewife

Creator Mark Cherry had meeting after meeting with executives from HBO, CBS, NBC, FOX, Showtime, and Lifetime. They all turned down his ideas for the prime time soap opera. Executives from ABC Lloyd Braun and Susan Lyne signed the Desperate Housewives and Lost, and they were both fired for accepting these new shows.

What Came To Be

Fans and critics fell in love with the show after its debut on October 3, 2004. It quickly became one of the most popular television shows boasting 115 to 119 million viewers per episode.
