Derrick Rose is a professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the NBA. Rose was selected by the Bulls with the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. In his rookie year, Rose competed in and won the Skills Challenge during the NBA All-Star Weekend; he won again in 2009.

College Career
Derrick Rose played one season of College basketball at the University of Memphis under head coach John Calipari. During his freshman year, Rose averaged 14.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. The Memphis Tigers earned a #1 seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to the Final Four before losing to Kansas.Rookie Season
On October 28, 2008, Rose made his NBA debut with the Chicago Bulls. Rose started the game as the Bulls point guard and finished the game with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists in 32 minutes against the Bucks. The Bulls won the game 108 to 95. Rose faced a pair of controversies in May and June 2009, after being named the NBA's Rookie of the Year. Several news outlets reported that a stand-in had taken the SAT test in his place. Then, a photograph came to light showing Rose flashing gang signs.
