Canadian professional hockey player Derek Morris plays for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League.
Morris was traded from the Phoenix Coyotes to the Rangers on March 4, 2009, in exchange for Dmitri Kalinin and Petr Prucha and Nigel Dawes.CBSSports.com: Coyotes ship Jokinen to Flames, Morris to Rangers... NHL Career
Morris was drafted 13th overall in the 1996 NHL draft by the Calgary Flames. He joined the Flames American Hockey League affiliate, the Saint John Flames in 1996 before making his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames in 1997. Morris continued to play in Calgary through the 2001-02 season, then was traded to the Colorado Avalanche on October 1, 2002. He joined the Avalanche for just short of two seasons before he was sent to the Phoenix Coyotes on March 9, 2004.
