  • Background

Depeche Mode helped define the growing Alternative music scene of the 1980s and 90s with their mixture of New Wave sensibilities, electronic rhythms and dark, brooding lyrics. As well as being one of the most influential bands of the era, Depeche Mode were also at the forefront of the music video trend. They produced some of the best known videos of the early MTV era - including the classic "Enjoy the Silence". After a period of personal turmoil for lead singer Dave Gahan, the band reunited for the 2005 album Playing the Angel.
