Located in Denver Colorado. the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a premier science education learning center in the Rockies. At the museum you will find the Gates Planetarium which was founded in 1968 by the Gates Family Foundation. In addition, you will find the Phipps Auditorium which houses the IMAX theatre. It was built in 1940 but then modified in 1983 to make room for the theatre.
The Museum's website has many different sections to view with subcategories in each that allow people perusing the site the opportunity to experience what the museum has to offer.
On April 3, 2008, Al Roker aired his weather segments from various sections within the museum.

Where Pink Dolphins Swim: Photographs from an Amazon Journey, Opens June 25, 2010 A photo exbihibit by Tory Read on the Brazilian Amazon forest and its people. Over 30 black-and-white pictures about a journey down the Amazon River. Eight large-format color pinhole images about life in the Amazon River.
Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches, Opens September 24, 2010 The world’s largest and most biologically diverse river is the mighty Amazon. The fabled piranhas, anacondas, caimans and stingrays as well as Amazon village life are featured.
Featured Video: Spiders in Space
This is a video recording of what spiders do in space. Dr. Paula Cushing, Department Chair and Curator of Invertebrate Zoology at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, was instrumental to bringing the spiders in space and getting them back home safe and sound. She provided insight into the special needs of the little spinners.
