  • Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested on felony domestic violence charges on April 30, 2008 in Los Angeles.

    Authorities say Rodman is accused of hitting a woman at a hotel in Century City.

    The woman, believed to be Rodman's girlfriend, suffered injuries to her arms. Rodman was released from the Van Nuys jail on $50,000 bail on May 1, 2008. He was scheduled for arraignment on May 22, 2008.

    On May 16, 2008 Rodman was formally charged with three misdemeanors: spousal battery, brandishing a deadly weapon and dissuading a witness. A conviction on all three charges would mean up to 36 months in jail as well as one year of probation, a protective order and domestic violence counseling. Rodman is scheduled to appear in court on May 22, 2008.

    Rodman's manager, Steve Simon, says the flamboyant ex-basketball player has been distraught over his recent divorce. Another manager, Darren Prince says Rodman had been drinking heavily in the weeks leading up to the alleged incident, and that Rodman plans to enter rehab soon.
