Newsman Dennis Richmond retired from KTVU, San Francisco Bay area's FOX affiliate, after a 40-year career.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Richmond bid an emotional and heartfelt farewell to his viewers saying "You've invited me into your home for so many years that I feel like I'm part of your family and leaving that family is not the easiest thing to do."
Richmond began working for KTVU in 1968 as an office clerk. He was promoted to full-time reporter in 1969 and became an anchor for "The Ten O'Clock News" in 1976.
Awards and Recognitions
Richmond's awards include the Humanitarian Award and the Black Media Coalition Journalist of the Year Award.
Richmond is a member of the Board of Directors of the Child Abuse Consortium, held the position of General Chairman of Alameda County's YMCA Fundraising Drive, and served on the Oakland Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee to Save High School Sports.
