On Saturday, May 29, 2010 the relatives of Dennis Hopper have confirmed that he has died,. Actor and director Dennis Hopper was born on May 17,1936 in Dodge City, Kansas. He began his acting career in the early 1950s in several television shows and had his film debut in Johnny Guitar. He continued his career through the 50s including several films with James Dean. Throughout the 1960s he regularly appeared in films, usually as a villain. In 1969 he got together with Peter Fonda and Terry Southern for his directorial debut with a movie called Easy Rider which became a landmark film in the counterculture of the 1960s. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000454/bio

1970s and 1980's

His next directing project, The Last Movie was a complete failure and this caused Hopper to enter a period of intense alcohol and drug abuse. It was not until the 1980s that he began to see a revival of personal life and professional career. In the 1986 David Lynch film Blue Velvet he turned in a seriously believable performance. Then to demonstrate his versatility he received an Academy Award nomination for his performance as an alcoholic father trying to get sober to help coach his son’s basketball team in Hoosiers. 1990s and Beyond

His Directing career continued with The Hot Spot and Chasers. Hopper has received better recognition in the 90s for his acting especially for portraying the bad guy such as he played in the film Speed. His acting career has continued into the Twenty First Century in such films as The Keeper and 10th And Wolf.
