Denmark is a constitutional monarchy that is part of Scandinavia. It occupies a peninsula, Jutland, on the European mainland as well as an archipelago of islands that divides the North Sea from the Baltic Sea.

History
In medieval times, Denmark repeatedly conquered Sweden, then allowed Sweden to slip away. In 1643, Sweden turned around and conquered parts of Denmark.Denmark became a constitutional monarchy in 1849.
Germany invaded Denmark in 1940, and continued to occupy the country during World War II.
Climate and Culture
Denmark has a moist maritime climate and is the most temperate of the Scandinavian countries. Its latitude gives Denmark similar extremes of day-length in the summer and the winter.Like the other Nordic states, Denmark is socially progressive.
