Former professional hockey player Denis Savard coached the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League. Savard was fired by the Blackhawks on October 16, 2008, and will be replaced by Joel Quenneville. As a player for 18 NHL seasons, he was known as a crafty centerman, who delighted crowds with his famous 'spin-o-rama' move on goal. He was traded from Chicago to Montreal in a blockbuster trade for defenseman Chris Chelios in 1990, and eventually was part of Montreal's 1993 Stanley Cup championship team.
