  • Canadian professional hockey player Denis Hamel is under contract with Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League and currently assigned to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.
  • NHL Career

    Hamel was drafted 153rd overall in the 1995 NHL draft by the St. Louis Blues. He continued to play for his junior team, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, after the draft and was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 1996. Hamel joined the Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, in 1997 and made his debut with the Sabres in 1999. After three seasons in Buffalo, Hamel signed as a free agent with the Ottawa Senators on July 5, 2003. The Senators waived Hamel three months later and he was picked up by the Washington Capitals, but traded right back to the Senators. He split the next three seasons between the Senators and their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, then was claimed off of waivers by the Atlanta Thrashers on February 10, 2007. Hamel joined the Thrashers for just three games before he was picked up by the Philadelphia Flyers. On July 6, 2007, he signed with the Ottawa Senators and was placed back in the AHL.
