Quarterback Denard Robinson plays NCAA Football with the Michigan Wolverines football team in the NCAA. During the first game of the 2010 season, many speculated as to which quarterback would start the game and the season, with Robinson in competition with fellow sophomore Tate Forcier for the position. Less than 24 hours before kickoff, Wolverines head coach informed Robinson that he would start. In the September 4, 2010, game against the UConn Huskies football team, Robinson not only led the Wolverines to a 30-10 win, but notched 186 passing yards, compled 19 of 22 passes and scored a passing touchdown, plus added 197 rushing yards on 29 carries for an additional touchdown. On September 11, 2010, the Wolverines played against the University of Notre Dame at their home stadium in Indiana. During the second quarter of the game, Robinson broke away and ran 87 yards for a touchdown, scoring the longest touchdown run in the history of Notre Dame stadium. Commenting on the play, Robinson said, "Once I get on the field, I don't like to be caught from behind. It was like I can't get caught, can't get caught." Freshman Season
During his freshman season at Michigan, Robinson played at quarterback in all 12 regular-season games, sharing the snaps with Tate Forcier. He finished the year with 14 of 31 completions for 188 yards, four interceptions and five touchdowns. Robinson also added five additional touchdowns when rushing, carrying the ball 69 times for 351 yards. While the Wolverines finished the season with a 5-7 record and did not qualify for a college bowl game, Robinson did provide some highlights along the way. In his first career snap as a Wolverine, Robinson ran for 43 yards to score a touchdown.
