Richard D. Davis was convicted in July of 2008, after a week long trial for Spicer's murder. Riley was supposed to stand trial in April 2009, but she struck a plea deal with prosecutors in order to avoid the death penalty. On Monday, December 22, 2008, Riley pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, kidnapping, sodomy and sex abuse of Spicer.
