Demonoid is a private torrent downloading website allowing users to download and share a wide range of media files, including music, videos, books, games, and more. The site is controversial and the target of multiple legal investigations for allowing the piracy of media. Membership, which is required to download any files from the site, is very exclusive and closed all but a few days out of each month.
History
Demonoid.com was launched in April 2003 by an anonymous Serbian founder working under the name "Deimos". On November 9, 2007, the site was taken down due to legal problems with the Canadian Recording Industry Association. The site returned on April 11, 2008 after a change of administrators.
