"People Magazine" says Lovato entered rehab treatment for "emotional and physical issues" in late October of 2010. At the time, Lovato's rep told "People" the actress and singer had been dealing with the issues "for some time." The 18-year-old Lovato finished that treatment in late-January of 2011.
Demi Lovato posted the video message on Cambio.com on the morning of March 7, 2011. She says she kept up with messages of support from fans via Tweets and fan mail.
Lovato says her journey "has been very, very difficult over the past few months." She says she was dealing with issues that she believes a lot of girls and women deal with, adding that she hopes at some point to "raise awareness" so she "can help people too." News also quotes sources "close to Lovato" as saying she "suffered from bulimia and self-image problems as well."
Lovato, who stars on the Disney Channel show "Sonny With a Chance," also mentions returning to work - but again, she doesn't offer specifics.
