    Byrd brgan his collegiate football career at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi, recording 45 receptions for 730 yards and five touchdowns during his sophomore year.     Transferring to LSU in 2007, Byrd was instrumental in the Tigers' 2007 national championship. He played in all 14 games that season, leading the team in receiving touchdowns with seven and second in receiving yards, at 621. Perhaps his most notable game was against the Auburn Tigers, in which Byrd caught a 22-yard touchdown pass with one second left to give LSU a 30-24 lead to win the game.
