Football Career
After a college football career with the Troy Trojans, Ware was selected 11th overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He joined the team for his NFL debut that same year, playing in all 16 games and recording 58 tackles. Ware saw improved numbers in 2006, totaling 71 tackles, 11.5 sacks and his first professional interception. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2006, a feat that he repeated in 2007. In October of 2008, Ware tied the NFL record for sacks in consecutive games, at 10.
Ware hyperextended his left knee during a 2008 Thanksgiving day game against the Seattle Seahawks. An MRI performed the following day showed no extensive damage to the ligaments and he did not miss playing time.
