It began as a fruit packing and canning company, then began to buy other brands and distribute them. Today, Del Monte owns brands of consumer goods for people and their pets, and still sell canned fruits and vegetables under the Del Monte label.

Del Monte Foods History
Starting in 1916 the California packing company, Calpak distributed their products under the brand Del Monte. After World War II, the company added more canneries and spread worldwide.
