While they tend to be lumped in with the glammy "hair metal" era of the mid- to late-1980s, Def Leppard actually formed in 1977 and were just as much a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal that included heavier metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Nevertheless, the band did become one of the biggest selling acts of the '80s by churning out massively accessible hits such as "Photograph," the power ballad "Love Bites," and what is likely their signature song, "Pour Some Sugar On Me."
In the summer of 2009, Def Leppard embarked on a U.S. tour with Poison and Cheap Trick.Rolling Stone: How Def Leppard and Poison Mended Fences for Summer Tour (March 5, 2009)In October 2009 the band announced that they would be canceling the last leg of the 2009 North American tour, a total of 23 shows.
