  • Deepak Kalpoe is a Surinamese man who was arrested three times in connection with the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005. His brother, Satish Kalpoe, and his friend, Joran van der Sloot, have also been arrested multiple times in relation to the case. None of the three men has ever been charged with any crime. Holloway has never been found.

  • Background

    Born in Suriname, Deepak Kalpoe worked as a clerk at an Internet cafe in Aruba at the time of Holloway's disappearance. On May 30, 2005, Holloway failed to show up for her return flight to the United States after a week-long high school graduation celebration in Aruba.
  • Different Stories

    Kalpoe admitted driving Natalee Holloway, Joran van der Sloot, and Satish Kalpoe around the island in his car. At first, Kalpoe claimed that he had dropped Holloway off at her Holiday Inn hotel and saw her approach a security guard. He later retracted his story, and claimed that he dropped Holloway off at a remote beach in the company of van der Sloot. A video aired on the Dr. Phil Show in 2005 purporting to show Kalpoe confess that the three men all had sex with Holloway was later discovered to have been doctored.
