Canadian professional hockey player Dean McAmmond currently plays for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League.
On February 20, 2009, McAmmond was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the New York Islanders, along with a first-round pick in the 2009 NHL draft, in exchange for Mike Comrie and Chris Campoli.NHL.com: Isles Swap Comrie, Campoli for McAmmond, Pick
Hockey Career
McAmmond was drafted 22nd overall by the Chicago Blackhawks during the first round of the 1991 NHL entry draft. He played in five regular season and three post season games during the 1991-1992 season, and then returned to playing for the Western Hockey League for the following year.
McAmmond was traded to the Edmonton Oilers shortly after winning a gold medal with Canada's 1993 World Junior Team and would be a regular fixture on the Oilers' lineup for most of the next six seasons. Near the end of the 1998-1999 season, McAmmond was traded back to Chicago, with whom he played with for the better part of the next two seasons. McAmmond then joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for ten games in the 2001 playoffs.
After brief stints with the Colorado Avalanche, the St. Louis Blues and two with the Calgary Flames, McAmmond signed as a free agent with the Ottawa Senators in the summer of 2006.
