In Dead Space the player can upgrade their armor for up to 4 levels. Each level increases the strength of your armor (referred to in the game as "The Rig") allowing you to take more damage. Upgrading The Rig also results in a visual upgrade, with the armor gaining more and more steel plating as it progresses in level, as well as other graphical touches. Bonus Pre-Order Suits
Bonus suits are available for each system and for pre-orders: the Xbox 360 version received the Elite Suit, PlayStation 3 got the Obsidian Suit, and pre-order customers can download the Scorpion Suit.
