- The bridge of the Ishimura is in bad shape. Head through the halls, looting as you go. Make sure to check the various lockers in the tram station.
- Follow the hallway until you reach the massive bridge. There's a lot of ground to cover, but make sure you check it all. There are footlockers and offshoot areas everywhere.
- Audio Log! Near where the asteroid blasts through the bridge floor, to the right.
- Once you've been everywhere and gotten everything, go to the front of the bridge and descend the stairs. Save, then continue down to the lift.
- Grab the schematic to your left, just as you exit the lift.
- Go forward into the captain's nest to get an objective update. There are a few lockers around the room, as well as a green crate across from Hammond.
- Text Log! Grab it from the captain's chair.
- Return to the save point. Use it.
- As you ascend back toward the door you started at (you actually want the door to the right of it), you'll be attacked by the big thing that Hammond mentioned seeing. This is a Brute.
- This is actually an easy fight. As Hammond suggests, you need to shoot the monster in the back to kill it. Keep your distance and if it has a clear path, the big thing will charge at you. Sidestep the attack using the Left Bumper for speed and shoot it in the back as it passes.
- You want to hack off the arms on the Brute's back, then just pour fire into it. It takes quite a bit, but you have a lot of room to work here and the game just loaded you up with plenty of ammunition.
- When the Brute walks toward you at a fast pace, but isn't charging, just run away from it. Run around the central elevator column and try to take the corners somewhat wide to give the Brute incentive to start a charge. When you hear its rhythmic walk change to a sort of gallop sound, it's time to move sideways to get clear.
- The fight will take a few minutes, but if you keep your distance and play it smart, you should avoid taking any damage at all. When it's dead, check its body for 5,000 credits.
- ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! Killing the Brute nets you the Brute Force achievement.
- Head through the door the Brute destroyed. There's an elevator control switch ahead, which you can ignore for the moment. Instead, head into the storage room beyond.
- Power Node! It's in the blue panel on the wall on your way to the work bench area.
- Use the bench if you want, then hit the button you passed to open the atrium elevators on the bridge. Take the one closest to you when you're ready. You can save here, which is always a good idea.
- Video Log! Inside the elevator.
- Take the elevator down to ship's systems. At the bottom are a locker and a green crate. Get what's inside, then go through the door ahead to find a save point.
- ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! There's a schematic on the ground in this hallway for the Contact Beam. If you grab it and you've gotten the other schematics mentioned up to this point, you'll unlock the Merchant achievement.
- Go ahead to the room marked SS Storage. Open the door and you'll see a pile of bodies on the left. One of these is a necromorph lying in wait.
- Blast it, then pillage the room. There's some ammo lying around, as well as a Stasis Recharge station. Be sure also to check the lockers.
- Return to the hall and continue to the door marked Ship Systems.
- There are fetus necromorphs in here, but also floor panels that have weird green energy flowing out of them. These are called Gravity Panels, and they'll smash anything that crosses one into the ceiling.
- Avoid the panels yourself and draw enemies into them for easy kills. You can do this simply by running away from fetuses and putting panels between them and you. To kill the smarter big necromorphs, try grabbing an object with Kinesis and hitting one in the face with it. This will cause the monster to stagger backward into a panel. You can do the same trick with guns.
- ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! Killing five enemies with gravity panels will earn you the Ragdoll Check achievement.
- Continue along the hallway until you come to the room with what is likely a dead necromorph. You'll see one that's crawling out of a vent to get behind you. Run into the room to get in position, then kill it.
- TIP: If you kill enemies with gravity panels, make sure you check the ceilings for anything they might have dropped.
- Go around the corner ahead and you'll run into two fetus monsters. You can save ammo by trying to draw them back into the gravity panels, or hacking off their limbs using the severed pieces of the necromorphs behind you. Either way, regroup to a position where you have the advantage.
- Charge your Stasis meter at the Stasis station at the end of the hall where the fetus monsters appeared. Then look left to where the way is blocked by some shelves. Toss them clear with Kinesis.
- Step inside and go left carefully. Because of the many walls in this room, you won't see the Brute gunning for you from the back of it. But you will hear him.
- Your goal here is to make hit-and-run attempts from the doorway. Sadly, the Brute won't follow you back into the hallway to get killed by gravity panels. It gives up the chase whenever you double back through the doorway you entered from.
- This affords you a safe position from which to relax and get your bearings for this fight. First of all, the Brute can come through many of the thin walls here and destroy them, whereas you're fighting in a maze. Avoid that situation by stepping into the room, letting the Brute approach you and destroy the walls in the way, then stepping back and causing it to leave.
- After most of the garbage has been destroyed, you'll see a few walls left that the Brute avoids. These are for you to run around, forcing the Brute to chase you. It'll be these that keep you alive.
- From the doorway, take a look across the room where you'll see some sparking wires. You can run across, Stasis them, and bust through to escape. Or you can face the Brute down.
- Power Node! Killing the Brute is time-consuming, but your reward is a Power Node.
- TIP: The best way to fight the Brute is from the doorway. Step in, lure it to you, step back and hit it in the back. Try to sheer off its little arms. You can also target the tentacles on its face as its approaching you. This is effective if you use the Ripper, which fires a saw blade that stays frozen in air for a few seconds. This way you can fire it at the Brute as it approaches, hit it in the face, step back to cause it to turn, then continue to use the blade on the Brute's back.
- When the Brute is dead, go to the wires and Stasis them. Then go to the right side of the area and press the button to transfer the power elsewhere. That knocks out the lines and completes an objective.
- Head back the way you came. When you clear the gravity panels, you'll come to a pair of necromorphs. One is in pieces on the ground, but while you're distracted finishing it up, another will drop down behind you. Kill both quickly.
- Save here and return to the lift that takes you to the atrium. When you get out, you'll be attacked by crawling necromorphs, so be ready.
- Six crawlers appear in here, coming at you in three waves of two. The best way to deal with them is with Stasis, especially if you can get both together.
- Run from the enemies until both jump at you. Let them land near one another as you run clear, then blast them with Stasis. While they're frozen, pick apart one or both. Then do the same against the next two waves. The entry point for at least one of these guys is the hole the asteroid left in the deck.
- TIP: Take a second to make preparations. Fighting two Brutes will likely have sapped you of your munitions. You can get to the Store to restock just through the left doorway out of the atrium. There's also a work bench down the hall attached to the right door, which the Brute broke down earlier. Then hit the Save Point at the mid-level landing down the stairs at the front of the bridge.
- Step into the lift that leads to Mining Admin, toward the front of the bridge. You'll have options as to what floor you want. Use the D Pad to select which. Level Two is the atrium, where you are now. Start with Level Three.
- Audio Log! Just outside the elevator, to the right.
- Clear out the lockers here, then save and clear out the lockers in the next hall. One of the big fat necromorphs waits around the corner, but it's slow-moving and should be an easy target.
- Just ahead, however, drops one of the burned-looking orange-hued necromorphs, which is decidedly more powerful. If you have Stasis, use it.
- When that's dead, hit the nearby console and backtrack to the lift. Head to Level One.
- Save and clean out the lockers, then head into Mining Admin.
- The compartment blows out to your right, leaving you in vacuum. Head to the storage room just ahead. There's a work bench here, as well as some ammo.
- Continue to the right to Mining Admin. The room is a mess, with gravity panels missing all over the place. You'll also see necromorphs milling about.
- Step into the room and use the gravity panels to your advantage. Try to knock enemies into them and use them to slow enemies down. Take your time here. You wouldn't want to accidentally wander into a panel and get killed for no reason.
- Kill the (two) necromorphs (one may have already accidentally killed itself) and head deeper into the room. Toward the back, you'll find a fetus monster. Take it out and hit the last of the three consoles.
- Objective complete. A winged resurrection necromorph has dropped in behind you and resurrected half a body. Both are fairly slow-moving, however, so draw them toward a panel and kill them with ease. Then backtrack to the lift.
- TIP: On your first trip through the vacuum compartment here, you may have seen some ammo lying in the destroyed room through the door that blew out. If you couldn't get it the first time through, try getting it now with Kinesis.
- Save and take the lift back up to Level Three.
- Exit the elevator and follow the hallway to the newly opened door marked Ship Exterior Access. Continue through until you reach another elevator and take it.
- Follow the hallway and stop at the first door, which is a storage closet. Empty it of items and continue along until you come to the hatch leading outside.
- Outside, you need to stand behind the large metallic boxes in order to dodge being ripped apart by asteroids. They bombard the hull every few seconds, so run or Zero G jump from box to box and wait for each shower to pass.
- Several of the boxes also have oxygen rechargers, but once you stand behind a box, it'll be destroyed, so keep moving forward.
- Toward the back half of the trip, you'll more or less run out of recharge stations, except for the last box on the far right, so keep that in mind. Make for the door on the other side of the area and go inside.
- Save here and gather the items off the ground. Then man the cannon by pressing the console at the other side of the room.
- You just need to outlast the asteroid bombardment. Destroy as many as you can as quickly as you can. You won't run out of ammo, so feel free to go a little crazy. However, down in the right corner of the screen where your hull integrity counter is, there's a meter that shows your gun's heat level. Too much firing and you'll have to wait for it to cool down. Each Trigger on your control fires the corresponding barrel on the gun.
- ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! Finish the cannon objective with more than 50 percent hull integrity to get the Don't Get Cocky, Kid achievement.
- Save and leave the cannon. Of course, now that there are no meteors, there will be necromorphs. However, you're in a zero-g environment, which means the necromorphs have a harder time getting around than you do.
- Instead of bothering to fight, jump clear of the monsters and make a break for the opposing door. With your ability to run and Zero-G jump, you should have minimal issues if any at all. Get back to the door and go through.
- Follow the hall until you're nearing the room with the elevator. You'll see some weird things ahead - pieces of necromorphs or humans that are a small piece with just tentacles. They're easy enough to kill but they move somewhat quickly. Blast your way through and get to the elevator. Be aware that they'll be behind you in the hallway once you see the first one.
- Return to the bridge from the elevator - Level Two.
- ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! If you're anything like the author, you've probably stocked up quite a bit of merchandise in the last area and used little of it, especially if you've been following this guide. You should also have a fair amount of money. Stop by the Save Point on the bridge and save your game, then go to the Store in the next room. Dump all your inventory into the safe and buy up a bunch of small air cans. Then dump them into the safe, until you have 30 things stored. It'll net you the Pack Rat achievement. Then you can quit the game and reload your save.
- Start down the hall past the Store to the tram station and you'll get the unpleasant surprise of two spitting necromorphs dropping on either side of you. Run toward the one in front and pass it, or hit it with Stasis, but get both of them on the same side of you. Then finish them off or dash for the tram station.
- Board the tram to complete the chapter.
