There are two special abilities the player can use in Dead Space, which was released for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 14, 2008. In Dead Space the player will be able to use telekinesis and the ability to put enemies in stasis, skills put to use in both combat against Necromorphs and in solving puzzles.
Kinesis
One of the two special abilities in Dead Space is kinesis. This is the ability to control objects by manipulating gravity. The kinesis ability allows the player to pick up and throw large objects, open doors and move switches from a distance. It can be effective means of attacking enemies or providing cover for the player. This ability is also necessary in solving many of the puzzles in the game.
Stasis
The other special ability available to the player in Dead Space is stasis. This is the ability to temporarily slow objects or enemies. Stasis is most effective in combating large numbers of enemies, allowing the player to hold off some enemies, while dispatching the rest.
Stasis in Games
The use of stasis in videogames is nothing new and is becoming increasingly popular in games with a sci-fi setting. Here's a list of some of the games that have used a stasis element in gameplay.
