Dead Space 2 is a third-person sci-fi shooter/horror survival game for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. This page explains how to complete Chapter 1.

A complete video walkthrough is followed by text instructions.

1. After the intro cutscene, run along the path until you reach a safe room. Always look out for the lit areas.
2. Follow the on-screen instruction during a cutscene.
3. Follow the path, walk up the stairs and enter a room on the left.
4. Continue following the path until the next cutscene starts.
5. Get the medikit and flashlight behind you and proceed. Use the medikit.
6. Take the elevator to the lower level.
7. Use your flashlight to find the way through the dark. Note: You can always use your locator to display the right path.
8. Follow the path and crawl through a tunnel.
9. Once you drop into the surgery room, deactivate the magnetic field.
10. Now use kinesis on the object on the ground to throw them against the windows to your left or right.
11. Once the windows are broken you will get attacked by two enemies. Immediately grab another object from the ground and throw it against the first enemy to kill him. 
12. Then, pick up another object to kill the second enemy.
13. Always loot the bodies by stomping on them for items like ammo or money.
14. Proceed and use the next elevator.
15. Go right to find some object you can throw at the upcoming enemies.
16. Loot the enemies and get the items in the two boxes at the wall to your left and right.
17. Proceed and enter the next surgery room.
18. Use the computer in the room to get a plasma cutter.
19. Use it to shoot the upcoming enemy. Always aim for the limbs.
20. Look around for some items and loot the body.
21. Then, shoot the enemy on the bench and proceed.
22. You will face some enemies shortly after the room with the aquarium. Eliminate them.
23. Proceed and then follow the man.
24. After you get separated from the man, you will face some enemies. Get ready and eliminate them.
25. Now, search the area for items and loot the bodies. Get the power node at the front desk. Then, proceed.
26. You will reach a room with a locked security door.
27. You need to hack a unit on the left when you enter the room.
28. Once you hacked the unit a fast enemy will appear. Use stasis to slow him down and shoot him.
29. Charge your stasis and open the security door. 
30. Before walk towards the door use stasis on it and run through it.
31. Proceed and kill the upcoming two enemies.
32. Then, search for items. There is a power node in the room.
33. Proceed and use the next elevator.
34. When you reach the room with the balloons in it, get a power note on the desk next to the balloons.
35. Proceed and shoot the red sign above the window that sucks the air out of the room.
36. Proceed and shoot the enemy that is playing dead to the right of the save station.
37. Get the power note next to the save station and purchase the engineering suit at the store on the left.
38. Run through the vacuum and enter the next door. Get the power note in the vacuum room.
39. You will face a boss fight now. To beat him use stasis on him and then aim for the glowing parts on his limbs. There is a stasis station to the left when you enter the room. Once the enemy’s limbs are severed, use stasis one more time and aim for the glowing part on his tale to finish him off.
40. Proceed along the path and take off the cover of a tunnel by using kinesis.
