Dead Man's Bones is a DIY musical collaboration between Academy Award nominated actor Ryan Gosling and his best friend Zach Shields. The duos first project is a concept album about the supernatural and involves a variety of instruments and a large children's choir. Band's Formation
Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields met in 2005 through their girlfriends at the time, sisters Rachel McAdams and Kayleen McAdams. On the day they met Shields was donning high heels, and Gosling was uncertain what to do with him. Ultimately they decided to form a band. Fueled by their common love for monsters, zombies, ghosts and all things scary, they initially tried to create a musical theater production. Although that idea fell apart, the songs they had written remained and Dead Man's Bones was born. They have spent 2 years on the project, with their first album due out in the summer of 2009.Pitchforkmedia: Meet Dead Man's Bones: Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields (January 22, 2009)On The Road
The band's first show will also double as a showcase for their music label Werewolf Heart. It takes place on March 21 at Austin's South By Southwest festival. After that they intend to tour, working with a different children's band in each city they play.Pitchforkmedia: Meet Dead Man's Bones: Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields (January 22, 2009)-
