DC Sniper Execution

  • The man who led the 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, DC suburbs was executed at 9:11 PM on November 10, 2009. "Beltway Sniper" John Allen Muhammad was executed by lethal injection at a prison near Jarratt, Virginia. He says he didn't hear him utter a word the entire time.

    • Muhammad maintained his innocence up until his execution. The U.S. Supreme Court denied his appeal on November 9, 2009 and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine declined to intervene on the day of the execution. Through three weeks in October, 2002 Muhammad and accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo killed 10 people and wounded 3, leaving written messages and telephoned threats and demands.
