On June 4, 2008, in Washington DC, the local police set up military-style checkpoints in the Northeast neighborhood known as the Trinidad area.
On Saturday, June 7, 2008, officers will be checking asking drivers' for to identify themselves and their business in the area. If there is no legitimate reason, drivers will be sent away.
Attempt to Stop Violence
The initiative is an attempt to stop gun violence in the area. Police will search cars, if they suspect the driver has guns or drugs.
