David Yates

English director David Yates was born in 1963 in St. Helens, Merseyside. Yates was chosen to direct the last two Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He is also directing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part II.

David Yates was educated at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield and has worked in television, mainly for the BBC.

He started to work on films in 1988, writing, directing and producing the movie When I Was a Girl. Yates won an Emmy Award in 2006 for Best Direction in a TV Movie for The Girl in the Cafe.
